Isle of Wight 2013 Day 4

After a late night, there were some tired faces around in the morning for the theatre workshop in Shanklin. But Dom, the producer/actor of the theatre company, quickly got everyone livened up with an excellent morning of theatre education. The children learnt about make-up, lighting, sound and choreography as well as put together a short musical number.
Can you guess who the pantomime dame is? Leave a comment - answer posted on our return!

After a relatively long coach trip we lunched on top of Alum Bay and then descended the many steps to take our boat trip to the Needles. We were greeted by a calm sea and gorgeous conditions which allowed some fantastic photos to be taken.
Then it was back to the hotel to get ready for the disco in the evening.

Isle of Wight 2013 Day 3

Room inspections dominated the time before breakfast. Bedding needed to be straight and flat, toilet rolls folded and towels hung up! Scores improved from yesterday but with more still to do to meet the exacting standards of Inspectors Williamson and Hollick.

Yet more sunshine greeted us this morning as we set out for Robin Hill. This park has all kinds of activities from thrillseeking rides, to calming chinese lantern-adorned woodland walks.

Isle of Wight 2013 Day 2

Another glorious day with stunning sunshine throughout.

The morning was filled with surfing and the afternoon spent at Amazonworld.
Surfing was cold initially but with brilliant waves for bodyboarding. There were some great tales of 'catching a big one' and 'riding on the crest of a wave' but these are best left to be told on the children's return!
In the afternoon, after lunch and games on the beach, we visited Amazonworld to learn about all issues tropical. We witnessed penguins being fed and had a free walk among lemurs. The children raided the gift shop at the end and finished with a prolonged session in the brilliant play area.

Isle of Wight 2013 Day 1

After waving off the masses of parents, we all set off for the Isle of Wight bright and early. The weather was fine and we made good progress to the ferry. Following the short 45 min journey which just about enabled time to wolf down lunch and complete a quiz, we journeyed onward to Coleman's Farm.
Nestled amongst the gorgeous countryside, the children had plenty of activities to do; feeding animals, riding on a tractor or playing in the barn. They all took full advantage and had a great time.
We arrived at our hotel in time to unpack, eat dinner and then head off to the beach opposite for some evening games. Some played cricket or football, others created mermaids of each other and others just paddled in the sea. Following a quick dairy write and a hot chocolate, the children collapsed into bed at 10pm. If today is a clue as to the potential success of the trip, we are in for a fantastic time.
