Thursday 23rd May Day 1

Despite the frequent showers of rain and even hail, the children managed to have a great time on all the activities. Here are some photos taken during the afternoon.

Vida and Oritse from JLS drop by!

On Wednesday, we received a surprise visit from Oritse from JLS who brought with him his new girl band 'Vida'. They sang for us and answered a question from each class. We heard what inspired them to take up singing as well as how long they had been together and what they had each done when they were at school themselves. The children were so surprised to see Oritse himself, they couldn't quite believe it!
Were you there?

New Artwork installed at school

16 of our Year 5 talented artists were given the opportunity to work at Great Baddow High School with their art department to create a new piece of artwork.
They based it on our new logo and used clay with different modelling techniques such as 'scratch and slip'. We are planning an official opening in September, but here is a sneak preview.
Have you seen it?

Gail Emms kicks off School Sports Week

To launch National School Sports Week, our school was lucky to be selected to receive a visit from Gail Emms the Olympic silver medallist in Badminton.
She visited us on Wednesday 20th June 2012 and took part in badminton coaching as well as viewing different olympic and paralympic sports that the children were participating in. Our children were also coached by secondary pupils to present an Olympic dance too.

Did you enjoy Gail's assembly?

Logo Balloons Launched by Gail Emms

Wednesday 20th June at 2:00pm saw the launch of one balloon for every pupil, teacher and Governor at the school (nearly 400 in total). We were celebrating our new logo for the school and used the opportunity of Gail Emms, Olympic silver medallist, to launch the balloons.
You can see where they ended up by clicking on this link http://goo.gl/maps/MrnZ .
Our furthest balloon has currently travelled all the way to Denmark!

We certainly 'aimed high and flew higher'!
